Sky HDTV gaining popularity and making profits

Sky is one of the leading names in the Digital TV segment currently. The brand entered the TV entertainment zone with Digital TV matured to HD (High Definition) TV and now promises 3D TV viewing experience to its viewers.

Sky continues to rule and their profit figures are claiming this. Sky’s profits rose by 10% and added 90,000 new customers during the last quarter. Its 30% customers out of the total 9.86 million are HD TV subscribers.

It is clear that Sky has made an impact and created a high demand for itself in the market. It is also very much visible that the number of people choosing HD TV has increased and Sky alone has contributed in a big way.

Sky’s HD customers have doubled in numbers from 429,000 new customers between April to June 2010 alone. Their records also show that one out of 5 Sky customers has subscribed for broadband and phone connection as well.

The HD TV is proving a hit for Sky, they are also ready to launch a 3D channel in the month of October. This channel will also be Europe’s first 3D channel. Good news is Sky’s existing HD customers need not buy a new set top box to be compatible with the 3D TV.

Sky HD boxes are tuned to upgrade themselves to 3D and no set top box upgrade will be required. It’s 3D channel has signed agreements with Fox, Universal, Paramount, Warner Brothers, DreamWorks and Disney. The sports enthusiasts will also be able to enjoy the Premier League football in 3D.

Sky has brought the HD revolution in TV viewing that is being loved and widely accepted by the TV addicts in UK. The trend is catching up and churning out huge profits for Sky.

Sky Box or Sky Digital Box is device marketed by Sky to recieve digital and HD signals. Sky+ is also built into Sky Digital Box with an HD subscription.
